The Rules of the Host Boards

Etiquette

We're so glad you all have joined us, this game is probably one of the biggest Ouran games available right now (and probably the only Perfect Girl Evolution/Wallflower) and we have all of you to thank! Now that the game is so big, 73 registered users at the time this article was written, we're going to have to add a little more structure to the role-play style to keep things under control. Bear with us and try to follow these rules.

We have to ask that people take into consideration, where their characters are from and what the proper interaction with other characters would be. More of you are more familiar with Ouran, than Wallflower, but many of you have picked characters that fit in better in the Mori High School world. Remember in Japan etiquette is an every day part of life, and you simply do not break from it. It would be especially strict in an upper-class school like Ouran. Therefore we have to request that if you want your character to be more prone to violence, and expect them to actually act on those violent urges, we will ask you to please change your girl's designation to Mori where it would be more acceptable to break from tradition.

With this in mind, anyone from Mori would not have nearly the means of someone going to Ouran. You cannot expect to be extremely rich and be a Mori student. It will take more of an effort for a Mori student to be able to afford going to host club. Keep this in mind. Also, while Mori High students tend to be more violent toward their hosts, they are violent in the way they randomly pinch a guy's butt or try to tear his clothes off or chloroform him and try to kidnap him. You rarely see them use real(intentional) violence toward any of the boys. Toward each other is another story entirely.

Please read this article on The Pros & Cons of High Society for further information to help your character fit in at school.

Extreme violence. We've had a rash of violence amongst our Ouran girls. Normally they would immediately be ejected from the host club should they ever display this while in the Host Club area, or toward a member of the host club. We have not yet resorted to this, but from now on, if your character becomes violent toward any Ouran Host Club host, or in the Host Club room, they will be immediately ejected. And they will find shortly that Kyoya has literally made them disappear (you will not be able to log on under that name again).

Role play violence. Again, and we cannot emphasize this enough, should you chose to fight with someone, all actions cannot be completed in the same post. You may 'swing a fist toward Ranmaru's stomach, gritting your teeth as you prepare for impact' but you may not "punch Ranmaru in the stomach". Ranmaru may decide if he takes the hit or not, he can also 'reach out to stop your fist with his hand' but not 'catch your fist and pull you toward him'. You get the idea. And all violent actions will now have ramifications.

Pocket space. Pocket space is the special place where mallets are kept that would never fit under your skirt without people wondering what was wrong with you and why you had a huge bulge there. Pocket space does not exist in the regular roleplay you may joke around all you want in the ooc board. But remember every little thing you carry takes up room of some sort. The dresses are pouffy but can't hide much. Anything you can't carry in a backpack or shoulder bag should not suddenly appear in game.

OOC notes. We request you keep all ooc notes in the ooc forum. It gets very hard to read through posts and pay attention to the characterization if you're constantly going in and out of it. If you want someone to read a note you have for them, put a very very small note at the very bottom of you post that says

((please read the ooc forum))

The only other ooc notes we want to appear in regular role plays are the ones that indicate you are moving that specific role play to another thread. For instance:

((continuing in the Infirmary))

And at the top of the thread in the infirmary:

((continued from {thread name here: Music Room 3}))

Role Play Etiquette

Here's a quick reminder for all of our players, the etiquette of role play. We know how hard it is at first to get the hang of it, and as a group your administration team is actually very impressed by the quality of role play we're seeing on the boards. There is one part of roleplay which must always be respected.

Never do an action for another character. We know you may want something specific to happen, but remember, you've signed on to play your own character and you'd get annoyed if someone made your character do something they wouldn't normally do. In the roleplay world we call this godmodding or twinking. It happens a lot in early stages of role plays (and some games are even set up so that people can react for other people's characters) but in this particular role play we think that everyone expects their own character to behave a specific way and we want to give you all the chance to play them as you see fit.

So remember, you can make an action toward another character, but you cannot do a reaction from that other character to anything you yourself have done. The players have all been very giving as many people have been taking action for other characters and the player effected will just go along with it. But they really don't HAVE to go along with it. So remember this.

This goes doubly in fight scenes. We haven't had any of these yet, but unless you discuss with the other player before hand and they approve it, you cannot connect any hits for another character. A good role player will take hits when they need to.

Japanese School Systems

Both Ouran High School Host Club and Wallflower are set in modern Japan, and as such, we will be following Japanese tradition when it comes to how our school is run. For those of you who are not familiar with this system, here is a quick overview:

Japanese students attend high school for three years. First year students are the equivalent of tenth graders or sophomores in the American system. Second years are eleventh graders and third years are twelfth (or seniors). Each year is then divided into different classes. In the case of our game, class is determined by two factors:

Fist is lineage. Students that come from very prominent families will automatically be in the higher classes (A or B most of the time).

Then there s grades. Having good grades will also elevate a student to a higher class. Haruhi is the clearest example of this. She has no lineage to speak of, but as a scholarship student she is required to get the top grades in her year. For that reason, she is in the A class.

Ouran has four classes per year (A-D) and Mori has eight (A-H), which we have whittled down to seven classes (A-G) per grade level. For the most part, Mori students will be in classes D-G and Ouran students will remain in A-D. The only exceptions would be if a Mori student were exceptionally bright or, for some reason, from a high ranking family (a possible example of this would be Ranmaru and Takenaga, who come from rich families even though they attend a public high school). Please note that this is only in RARE CASES. The vast majority of our Mori kids cannot be mixing in the Ouran classes. If this sounds elitist, IT IS! Welcome to Ouran! Oooouraaaan! XD

Another way Japanese high schools are different from American ones is that students do not move from class to class throughout the day. Instead, the students stay put while the teachers switch rooms. So, when you say you re in the same class as someone else, you are in that class with them all day, every day, and most likely every year! Even Saturdays! Yup, Japanese high schools have class on Saturday, too! Usually just in the mornings, though. Sunday s their only real free day. Pretty crazy, huh?

Finally, even the Japanese school year is different from what you re probably used to. Their year begins in April and consists of three terms. There are short breaks between terms in both Winter and Spring and a month-long break in Summer.

There are a lot of more fun and interesting things you can learn about Japanese high school life, but that s all we re going to cover for now. Hope this helps you with your future RPing. If nothing else, you can sound like a real Otaku if the subject ever comes up at school or with your friends and family!

Hotlinking:If anyone on these forum is linking to any site that they do not personally own, we request you immediately stop. If we find out that you are doing so, you will only get one warning before we ban you from the board. Hotlinking is not acceptable.

We have given you a gallery option so that this should not even need to be addressed. Do not hotlink your pictures that you put into our gallery and use them other other sites as this brings about the same problem. Pictures you put in the gallery are there to be shared on these forums only, unless you make a special request to the webmistress. E-mail her at hosts@reikitantei.net

Gallery: Because so many of you have been doing fanart, we're giving you the option to keep it all in one place.

Rules:
1. Only post fanart you've done yourself or comissioned personally.
2. Only post fanart that relates to the game. This is not your photobucket.
3. You may load your sig files in here if you do not have webspace. Specs for signature files are as follow:

Max width: 600 pixels
Max height: 150 pixels

Please do not exceed these sizes for your signature files. Scrolling through huge pictures is a pain, the text portion your posts should be longer than your pictures.

4. If you cosplay from Ouran/The Wallflower, you may also load these in here, anyone who's image you put up must have given you permission to post it. Please do not go searching the internet for other people's pictures. Put up pictures someone else has taken of you, or pictures you yourself have taken.

The image gallery is not connected to the message board. So you will have to re-register.
If you do not follow these rules, your pictures may be removed without notification.

Thanks! And without further ado:
