Personality: He seems to be walking in a dream state most of his life. A distant and quiet young man, Mikiya drifts along, ghostlike, through life, without any real direction. Though he behaves "normally," (ie. he smiles, laughs, jokes around, etc.) one cannot help but imagine his attention is elsewhere when talking to him. He's looking for something, and he is only friendly enough to other people in order to avoid hurting or offending them and creating an inconvenience for himself. There are a few people he does care about though. If they grow tired of him, he disappears as mysteriously as he came to them.

His mind wanders a lot and he grows bored easily. In class he has good decorum and perfect grades, but his voice always sounds tired and quiet, never growing excited about anything. It's because he is really miles away, daydreaming. He can have a conversation with you and as you walk away, you wonder what it was you were talking about, and he doesn't really care. He does have a dry sense of humor, but he doesn't pay much attention to others unless he becomes bored.

On the occasion he does find someone he is fond of, he tends to loiter around them, not saying much but still talking enough to seem conversational. He tends to let his actions speak for him, and does good deeds for them without being asked. Also, he never betrays. He has the loyalty of a dog and the intellect of a genius, but with a friend, that intelligence is never threatening.

When he doesn't like someone, it is instantly apparent even though he is mostly expressionless and inert. He doesn't stop until that person is completely destroyed. But thankfully this is rare. As you can see, when he sets his mind to something, he won't stop until he has completed his task, and if there is no "set" completion, he will simply continue to do it mechanically as it becomes habit and second nature for him.

When he does get mad, he never shouts, but gives a cold stare that stops others dead in their tracks and makes them wonder if he is crazy. Sometimes he can be fearless to the point of insanity, but it's not as if he is just brave or reckless.

• Not a lot is known about his relatives or pedigree since he lives alone. Actually, Mikiya set up an agreement with an older man, a local real estate mogul of moderate prominence, who is supposedly an associate of his family, to have him set up as his "guardian" to fund his education, but in reality all the money is his. He is at least as wealthy as the average Ouran student just on his own, if not a little bit more, counting his guardian's fortune.*
• He always does only exactly enough work in school to maintain almost perfect scores. If he knows he can skip class because his grades can absorb it and still stay almost 100%, he will do so. If he knows he can skip an assignment without taking a hit, he'll do it too.
• He isn't very talkative, so when someone else goes on and on in front of him, the laconic Mikiya puts a finger on the tip of their nose without any prior warning, or change of expression on his part. Sometimes he stretches other people's faces as well, as a kind of signal that he wants them to cheer up or smile.
• At school he is out of place. Even though he is rich and gets super-genius scores, he has no reputation to speak of. Thus it is easy for him to fade away whenever he feels like.
• His habits at home and personal tastes are all a mystery
• He shrugs a lot, as a response to most questions.
• Mikiya's hair is a dull grey. It's not known whether he dyed it, or whether it is similar to albanism. Regardless, even though it is distinctive, it is easy to forget because it is not an overly startling or bright grey.
• Sometimes he lacks manners and is too direct. When he sees a girl he likes, he isn't adverse to just picking her up in a fireman's carry and walking away so that they can talk in a more private place. He is honorable though, and not very perverted with anyone he's not close to.
• His lazy and careless attitude can be off-putting for some and endearing for others. He almost seems like a young street tough given tons of money but no direction to move in.
• Often, because he is so quiet, people call him "Silent Protagonist." He doesn't seem to dislike or like the title.
• Cold, clean looks and a disinterested face characterize his appearance. He is somewhere between the "cool type" and the "normal type." He has a smooth voice reminiscent of an anime character.
• When in his presence, people are either immediately fascinated by him or uncomfortable. It is because he has an electrifying presence despite his silence and lack of expression.
