Family History/Background: Constantine’s parents are both full blood Japanese. Long time missionaries, their souls were saved as children and they have raised their son and daughter in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The Uchida family lives in a comfortable apartment only three blocks from their church. Constantine’s father works as a banker and his mother runs the household. She also teaches Sunday school and helps out with church fund raisers in her spare time. His sister, Elizabeth (Eri to her friends), is in her second year of middle school. She tends to be a bit more rebellious than her older brother and has caused the family a good deal of grief in recent years.

Other Information:Although Constantine is his Christian name, most of his acquaintances have taken to calling him “Kon.” The reason they give for this is that his proper name is very difficult to pronounce for most native Japanese speakers.

Japan’s Christian population is alarmingly small. Only about 1% of the entire country! (If you can believe it!) Kon has an uphill battle ahead of him, but he will work as hard as he can to spread the word of God.
