How to Play at Host Boards

Host Club is played much like the Ouran series works. You’re here as a patron/student, instructor, or host. If you are a patron, you can choose one of many hosts available from either the Wallflower or the Ouran series as your designated favorite. Which means, in short: You’re a fangirl (or fanboy, if you swing that way).

But that’s okay, because that’s the whole point of this game! Our hosts are here to make your dreams and desires come true, and you can do just about anything you want in order to obtain their affections. The hosts will set up games and activities for you, and it’s all up to you on what you want to do while you’re here.

You may choose not to play a student who would designate a host. You simply need to point this out in your profile. You also have the option to play as an instructor.

All roles require you to register in the forums and create an id.

The Role of a Patron

The role of a patron is to just HAVE FUN! Pick a favorite host and feel free to get as much or as little involved in a host’s affairs as you want. Everyone who is not a host is considered a patron, we group all students in this area.

Patrons are now required to ‘apply’ in order to play. We ask that you go to the Profile page, fill it out, and then post your character patron up for the members to vote on. This also helps solidify you as a more permanent player within our game. Your avatar, however, must come from either an Ouran or a Wallflower image source. Meaning, the fangirl/boy needs to have made a cameo appearance in the manga or anime series (even if they’re just drawn in the background). How you build up that random character image is completely and totally up to you but your character should be made to fit the avatar you select, do not import your character and try to match an icon to it. Check our avatar gallery to find a fangirl/student character image that’s already pulled from both series. If you are having trouble figuring out how to give yourself an avatar, please read this tutorial.

Currently we are in need of more Mori players.

1. Your character may obsess, idolize, stalk, or fawn over any host at their own peril.
2. Unless role-played out during the game, patrons are never aware of a host’s inner secrets. (For example, the fact that Haruhi is a girl can not be known by your character.)
3. Patron characters are not allowed to have super-human powers, be of a different race (or breed), or have any bizarre abstract characteristics that defy the laws of reality.
4. Patron characters are not, in any way, shape or form, related to any of the hosts, nor are allowed to have “past elicit love affairs” with any of them. (ie. Claiming to be an ex-girlfriend or fiancé.)
5. Patrons are only allowed to designate one host at a time. Tradition normally states that when a patron picks a favorite, she/he sticks with them forever. However, if you MUST change favorites, please wait at least two weeks before leaving your host for another. Try not to make it a habit of ‘jumping hosts’.
6. Please be kind to the hosts and other players. If you can, please type in complete sentences with as much proper spelling that you can muster. As always, if you’re acting unruly or out of control, a host has the right to remove your presence from the Host Club. (ie. Administration will ban you if the hosts find themselves unable to deal with your constant misconduct in the game.)
7. Remember never to do any actions for another character. You may only act for your own character unless it has been previously discussed and agreed upon with the other character involved.

9. Certain family names are restricted to tryouts due to their historic and social weight. These names are Fujiwara, Minamoto, Tachibana and Taira. This list may be updated as needed. You will need to show proficency in english (as the main language of the board) as well as impressive role play abilities. The Host may restrict these names as they see fit, without explanation. All main cast names are unavailable.

The Role of an Instructor

The role of an instructor is to teach classes, help with extra curricular activities, assist struggling students and administer discipline. You may visit your students homes to meet their parents, you may just hang out after hours with other instructors. But during school you are the ones in charge of the classrooms.

Instructors are at a level between Hosts and Patrons. They may post up their profile whenever they wish and consider it an 'interview' for their position. The administration will select which classes you will instruct based on your character's background, your skill at writing and your personal interests. This will also be based on what classes are available.

You can create your own character, but you will be basing the character off an avatar we have provided.

Fill out an application here and PM it to Board of Directors who will post it for review and determine if you have what it takes to be an instructor with us.

The rules for Instructors are basically the same as those for Patrons.

The Role of a Host or Supporting Character

The role of a host is to obtain as many loyal patrons as possible while you play your designated character. The only hosts available are the seven main characters from Ouran, and the four male characters from Wallflower. Women are not allowed to be hosts (Haruhi is the only exception), and neither are the supporting characters. The administrators of the Host Club will be throwing new challenges specifically for the hosts themselves in order to ‘motivate’ them to want to obtain more patrons. The hosts of Ouran and the hosts of Wallflower each have their own challenges, and are considered rival host groups.

A supporting character is any character that has been given a background in the show or manga, ie: Nekozawa or the Landlady. These are also applied positions.

If you want to play a Host or a supporting character, please go to the Application page and fill out the application for your desired spot. Our administrators will take a look at your submission and determine whether or not you’re style matches up with the character.

The Rules specific to Hosts:

1. Always role-play your character as canon as humanly possible.
2. The other players are your patrons, treat them in the manner that your character usually would. But treat the players with dignity and respect just as they are expected to treat you in return.
3. You are here to be a host, not a male prostitute. Please keep the game PG-13 in nature as much as possible. Fade to black if you must, and if you can justify those actions with the character. This includes inter-host relationships as well.
4. Reward your loyal patrons (within canon guidelines) to encourage them to continue to designate you as their favorite.
5. As a host, you are your own moderator. Make sure that if a patron is not following game protocol, that you report their misconduct to an administrator.
